Kidney diseases are commonly diagnosed in canine and feline patients. Traditionally, elevated blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine are used for identifying the reduction of glomerular filtration rate (GFR). More recently, IDEXX Catalyst SDMA has become a widely accessible test, which provides a different insight to the assessment of kidney GFR and enables the detection of kidney diseases when BUN and Creatine are not elevated. IDEXX Catalyst SDMA is also being used in IRIS guidelines, to support diagnosis and staging of CKD cats and dogs, as it is less impacted by diet and lean muscle mass.

In the lecture, we will review the kidney testing and discuss how IDEXX Catalyst SDMA can be used to support better patient care in practice.

  1. Reviewing the relationship of GFR marker and kidney functions
  2. IDEXX Catalyst SDMA as an in-house GFR marker for kidney assessment
  3. Interpreting IDEXX Catalyst SDMA results and making clinical decisions.
  4. Case studies: Applying IDEXX Catalyst SDMA in clinical diagnostics and monitoring

Registration ends at 11:30pm of 12 August 2025.

Please note that after registration, the HKVA will pass your name and email address to AVM. AVM will email a link to the webinar to you in a separate email. If you do not receive this email by 11 August, please check your junk mailbox, and email cpd@avmhk.com.
