Current Trend of Patient Care in Canine Lymphoma

Section 1 - Where should I start with communicating the diagnosis for lymphoma? A review of current process of diagnosing canine lymphoma.

Diagnosis for lymphoma is critical for evaluating a proper treatment plan and assessing the disease prognosis. A diagnosis of lymphoma includes clinical evaluations, cytology examinations, biopsy or histology examinations if needed, cancer cell subtyping, and disease staging. More recently, Cancer Dx, a diagnostic test that can be used for screening lymphoma in canine patients. This lecture will review the process of lymphoma diagnosis and introduce the common tools that are available.

Section 2 - Is my lymphoma patient doing well? Monitoring and management care of a lymphoma animal patient during and after treatment.

In current veterinary medicine, multiple treatment options for lymphoma are available, and the outcome of the treatment may vary, which require frequent monitoring to ensure well-being of a patient during and after treatment. This lecture will review the common treatment options for lymphoma in North America, the principles of patient monitoring, and diagnostic tools that are available for animal hospitals.

Speaker Biography


Dr. Pamela D. Jones
DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology), Diplomate ACVR (Radiation Oncology)
Specialist Support Veterinarian

Dr. Pamela D. Jones underwent her veterinary training in the United States at Colorado State University. She completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a three-year medical oncology residency at the University of Illinois and a two-year residency in radiation oncology at Southwest Veterinary Oncology in Arizona. She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in medical oncology and by the American College of Veterinary Radiology in radiation oncology.

She has enjoyed specialty practice in the southwestern United States in Arizona and Texas and has served in several capacities in the pharmaceutical industry including her current role as a Specialist Support Veterinarian at IDEXX.
