Internship Programme Aims

Our Veterinary Student Internship Programme is designed to provide a strong foundation for aspiring veterinarians through structured, supervised clinical experience:

• Build a solid understanding of core veterinary medicine and emergency care, alongside valuable exposure to VetiVa's diverse specialty services.
• Manage your own cases progressively as the internship advances.
• Build technical and non-technical skills, including team collaboration, patient and staff safety, and effective communication.
• Foster soft skills alongside clinical competencies in a supportive, encouraging environment.
• Gain exposure to research methods and scientific writing.

Key Responsibilities

Under direct veterinary supervision, you will:

• Calculate, prepare, and administer medications and nutritional support for hospitalised patients.
• Assist veterinarians with consultations, diagnostic imaging (including patient positioning for X-rays and ultrasound), and emergency procedures.
• Support incoming emergency cases, including triage, history-taking, and physical examinations.
• Communicate professionally with clients during supervised consultations.
• Actively participate in daily clinical rounds and morning/evening handovers for inpatients.
• Perform routine in-house laboratory procedures under direct supervision.

Requirements

• A veterinary degree programme that is registerable with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong (VSBHK).
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure, and a strong team player.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and referring veterinarians.
• Enthusiastic new or recent graduates are warmly welcome.
