VSH Hong Kong is Seeking Mid-Year Interns!


What is a rotating internship?

Internships are designed to prepare veterinarians for high-quality service in practice or advanced specialty training. The VSH team believes that the primary purpose of an internship is to provide a sound educational program for the intern, guided by specialist mentorship. Internships involve rigorous work, attention to detail, and consistent reassessment by the specialists of the intern's clinical skills, outcomes, and progress. The decision to pursue genuine internship training should not be taken lightly.

We are looking for individuals who display a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and dedication to being a true team player. You must be able to maintain a positive attitude, particularly toward patients, fellow staff and clients. We currently have space for 1-2 exceptional candidates.

About our internship:

  • 1-year rotating internship
  • Interns will be fully supported by specialists in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology and ophthalmology, with intermittent support from specialists in anesthesia/analgesia, radiology, and medical oncology
  • Interns will be supervised by specialists and experienced ER doctors
  • Shifts are long, and will include weekends, holidays, and overnights
  • We aim to hold teaching rounds on a regular basis. These may include journal clubs, seminars, lectures, or morbidity/mortality rounds. The intern will be expected periodically to deliver a professional presentation or seminar to senior clinicians and peers.
  • Interns will have primary case care responsibility for emergency cases with support from VSH specialists.
  • Rotations will include Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency, with elective rotations in Ophthalmology and/or Cardiology
  • The caseload at VSH is diverse, consisting mostly of complex medical and surgical cases. General practice services are not provided.
  • Salary will be discussed with applicants who have been selected for interview
  • Successful applicants must obtain registration with the HK Veterinary Surgeons Board, as well as work permits when applicable, prior to the start of the internship. Priority will be given to Hong Kong residents.

Specialist in Small Animal Surgery


Royal Veterinary Center (RVC) is one of the largest Veterinary hospitals in Macau, providing a complete range of clinical services to clients and patients. RVC has an excellent reputation for providing the highest level of quality health care service to veterinary patients.

RVC sees a broad range of orthopaedic, soft tissue and neurosurgical cases. The surgery department is well resourced with fluoroscopy, arthroscopy and laparoscopy to allow many minimally invasive image-guided orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures. We are also equipped with ligasure, 3 different locking plate systems, interlocking nails, Universal, Micro and Nano Biomedtrix Total Hip Replacement instrumentation, linear and circular IMEX ESF, and equipment for, TTA, TPLO and CBLO among others. Imaging is of the highest standard with digital radiography and currently in the process of acquiring a CT scanner, and a high field MRI that will be supported by a full-time radiographer. The anaesthesia team is highly trained.

The successful applicant will be working with a team of GP’s and specialists in various departments across the hospital including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology as well as a team of dedicated emergency clinicians and friendly supportive staff. The applicant must be comfortable in an environment where all are encouraged to collaborate on patient care, and where referring veterinarians and pet owners receive personal and attentive service.

Veterinary Assistant (Animal Welfare)

Do you have a desire to help homeless animals? Do you want to help alleviate their pain and suffering and give them a second chance in life?

Responsibilities include assisting the veterinary surgeon in hospital and surgical work for stray animals and rehoming animals as well as SPCA animal birth control programmes (CCCP, CDP, SNV, shelter) and community programmes. Applicants must be able to work in a busy environment, be confident handling animals, be enthusiastic, outgoing and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Requirements

  • HKDSE graduate or above
  • Good command of written and spoken English & Cantonese, spoken Putonghua will be advantage
  • Preferable with 1 year's working experience in handling animals
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, self motivation and ability to work under pressure
  • Able to work on shift duty in different centres and locations so as on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays
  • Preferable but not essential to have studied biology/animal science
  • Holder of class 1 and 2 driving licence will be advantage
  • Genuine interest in the welfare of all animals
